Until two weeks after bith, babies are called new born infants. Unborn offsprings are safe from illnesses in a secure environment, after birth new born babies become vulnerable and defenseless. At first year,while  immune system gets stronger, parents may experience some diseases. In this article we will list common childhood illnesses.

Scalp Incrustation

Scalp incrustation is experienced frequently in infants. Dry white or yellow scalp scales are formed on the baby’s head. This situation is called scalp incrustation. Generally shampoos those are normal in the terms of  ph value decrease this problem. However, 30 minutes before bath scrubing baby’s head with olive oil will ensure scalp’s softening. After that, combing baby’s hair with a soft baby brush will ensure flaking.


Candidiasis is oral thrush and arises like a white layer in baby’s mouth. Parents generally experience candidiasis in new born babies. Also at first year of babies candidiasis is experienced frequently. If you suspect candidiasis you should consult a doctor. Because candidiasis causes pain but it is not a dangerous infection.


60 percent of healthy, new born babies become hepatitis and 80 percent of premature babies become hepatitis. Hepatitis firstly begins on face and when the bilirubin level in blood increase it advances chest, belly, arms and legs in order. The yellow color on face is easily seen under day light and lamp.

It is essential to determine early and follow-up baby if he/she has hepatitis. Although hepatitis in babies generally gets beter by itself, it may cause brain injury if the bilirubin level in blood increases. It may turn into a serious baby illness.

Common Cold and Upper Respiratory Infection

At 6th month and later on upper respiratory infection is experienced by parents frequently. Contrary to what is believed it is not because of exposure to cold and chill. It evolves with an infection in throat or in nose and the cause is viruses. It is contagious and the different germs and bacterias are causes. This illness’s symptoms are runny nose, sneeze, nasal obstruction, pyrexia,loss of appetite and a dry cough. It is among the common childhood illnesses.
